Japanese Jewelry Box
My grandfather was in the Navy for a little over 30 years. He & My grandmother married in 1945, and they traveled together where ever he was stationed & she was permitted. In the mid-to -late 1960s, they, my mom, and my uncle, were living in Japan.
Which is where my grandmother picked up this jewelry box.
When she passed in 1999, some of her effects were handed down to me, this jewelry box being one of them. The music box has long since stopped working, the mirror inside has long since tarnished, and the box has chipped & cracked with age; but the beauty of it still resonates through, and the sentimental value of this box means a great deal to me.
